And today is the day it’s launching(!!)

It feels so much more personal to me, and it will make it a whole lot easier for both myself, and all of you guys as my readers.

I hope you’re all very excited to have a look, and I would love to hear for you in the comments on my new about page…

Remember to go and follow the new site, and my instagram for more updates and photos as always. Thanks!

Nail polish favourites

If I’m really honest, I don’t like painting my nails. At all. I love having pretty shiny nails but I’m so awful at applying it and really impatient and it normally chips or smudges and looks bad. But I made it my mission to try nd learn to do it properly, and in doing so, started to collect a fair number of them. I thought I would share them with you.

As far as formulation goes, my for sure favourite is essie. Essie are more expensive for a high street nail polish, retailing at around £7/8, but for the awesome colour range and the quality , it might be worth those extra few pounds. I have also seen a few at Tk maxx being sold for a bit less, so if you like the sound of them it might be worth having a look in there too. But I also love the Topshop nail polishes, and Barry M.

You can find my essie favourites here.

Zoë loves…

Hello everybody!

Today I have some very exciting news…I’m re-launching my blog!

I’ve been blogging for just over a year now and I really love it.I know that for sure.  But it’s only really just now that I’m really getting to know my writing style , and the blogging route I’m going down.

From the start of this blog, I’ve had troubles naming it. Originally I called it Zoëkins as it’s a nickname thats sort of stuck since I was very little, but I didn’t feel as though it was quite right for a blog name. It sounds sweet, and is personal to me, but in a way is a little bit childish. And I didn’t want to go for something overly generic, or just my name. so introducing…Zoë loves!

One of my goals for this year was to make myself feel like I’m really happy with my blog, and I thought I would start by designing it how I want it. So made the decision to have a splurge on a blog design I really loved, and one I could design a bit more personally too. And I picked one out from pip dig.

https://www.pipdig.co/products/wordpress-themes/

I saw a post on Tilly’s blog (http://lifeastillyrose.co.uk/2017/01/03/going-self-hosted-what-is-it-all-about/) about how she went self hosted and I was really interested by this. I decided I really wanted to restart this a bit, and make it really how I want it. So this means leaving wordpress, and going self hosted. If you want to find out more about self hosting yourself, definitely go check out Tilly’s post. It was super helpful and she’s much better at explaining tech-y things than I would be.

This also means that my website name will be changing. And even though I know that a lot of you come onto my blog through links in my instagram and pinterest, for those of you looking for it on a search engine, make sure to remember that this has changed. (http://www.zoeloves.co.uk)

I hope you’re all excited for the change, I know I am!

Thank you for reading as always and I’ll see you on my new site, very soon!

My February Wishlist

Happy February!

I had seen this post going around on a few blogs and as there are some really lovely things in the shops at the moment, I thought it might be something quite nice for a lil’ mid week post.

These are just a few pieces that I picked out from some shops online (which are linked if you click on the photo) that I think look really gorgeous and I would really like to try. Maybe they’ll be going on my birthday list (*hint hint* hahaha).

Comment down below if you would like to see more posts like this.

Oh hey there sunday…

Sunday is possibly one of my favourite days of the week. No school,  a lie-in and some time to do whatever you want.I think of it as a day to reflect on the week just gone, and organise myself at least a little bit for the up coming week.

I thought I would share with you my realistic sort of sunday and a few things that I like to do and make me happy. Because I thought that especially recently with all the bad things going on in the world, it’s so important to focus on the things that make you happy, rather than all the negatives.

  1. Have a lie-in – This is kind of a given, and I’n not really sure that I have to give much of an explanation to this , but especially being a teenager I friggin love a long lie-in. And it feels good to wake up having had enough sleep, which doesn’t happen often enough during the week.
  2. Have a family breakfast  – Get the frying pans, we’re making pancakes! This is kind of a family tradition in my house, but  the fact that I now sleep until about 11 on the weekends, it’s now officially called brunch. This morning I made pancakes with greek yogurt, honey, blueberry sauce and bananas- it was delish!
  3. Get outside -Especially if you’re prone to anxiety and stress, gentle exercise like walking and cycling can really help. I love to go for a walk on the weekends, even if it’s only for 10-20 minutes it’s good to get out in the fresh air and clear your mind.
  4. Get stuff done- I feel I can only relax when I’ve got my work done. And even though I’m really not the best at doing all my homework, I feel much much better once it’s done.
  5. Go to a cafe with a friend- I have recently become a little bit of a coffee addict, and combining my love of chatting for hours with friends and my new favourite drink is the best. It’s not something I’d do every sunday because it’s expensive, but as a treat it’s something really nice to do.
  6. Write a to-do list for the week- I like to do this to feel a bit more organised and so I can at lest try and keep record of my productivity during the week. This is something I would definitely recommend.
  7. Have a pamper night- I like to have a nice Lush bath and a face mask maybe once a week.So I can finish my week feeling super happy and ready for monday. Self-care is so important and not gonna lie I just love LUSH stuff a bit too much.

I also like to…

  • Read – I am currently reading ‘holding up the universe’ by Jennifer Niven. It’s very good.
  • Blog/write-  actually love creative writing and obviously, blogging.
  • Take photos
  • Have family film nights

Thanks for reading, have a wonderful week.

We went away for the weekend as a family in a little cottage in the country side.  It was so nice to have a break and do some exploring but I’m happy to be home.

We spent some time by the fire and playing monopoly, ate lots of cake, and walking, and even went out in the middle of the night to see the stars.

Happy Birthday mum, and thank you for the best weekend. Love you xx

Getting Organised

New day. New year. Fresh start and a good time to get my everything together.

  1. Tidy desk;tidy mind.
  2. To-do list’s.
  3. Clear your mind (me time).
  4. Spend time only doing things you love. (Unless thats school work.)
  5. Treats.

Personally, I’m a much happier human being when I’m productive.Even though I love  long sunday morning lie-ins and napping on the sofa and hours of doing nothing much at all.

Getting started is half the work. Normally, once I’ve started what I’ve been dreading, it’s only half as bad as I’ve made it up to me in my mind. (Excluding maths homework!).

My brain finds it extremely difficult to function when there’s too much to think about. Break down your worries and get rid of them. Talk to someone.  Have some me time too, have breaks often when you’re working to clear your mind. Have a bath, read, whatever – just take time out.

Tidy desk;tidy mind – It’s true! If you’re in a space you love, you’re more likely to want to spend more time there. Even if it means you have to spend hours there, doing course work.

Listen to music. This is something I would recommend maybe not doing whilst revising, or doing a subject that’s really intense, but whilst doing course work like art or photography, it can make it feel more enjoyable and like much less of a chore.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Hello 2017

Hello everybody!

2017 starts tomorrow (!!). Another year has whizzed by, and I’m genuinely amazed how crazy fast it’s gone.I thought now would be the time to share with you some of my aims I’m going to try and stick to in the upcoming year…

I seem to always have that one resolution about ‘eating less chocolate’ or ‘getting more exercise’- that one that I never really achieve – or do for a month or so but then by Feburary start feeling rubbish about myself not doing it and not bothering.

And then I always used to write pages and pages of resolutions that I knew realistically were never going to happen. So again this year, (like last year)I’m only doing five. And this way, I can at least try to achieve  them all. It would be really cool if you too, would  post five New Years resolutions for 2017  below in the comments and we can update each other on our progress. And a special good luck for any of you trying to eat more healthily  this new year!

So these are my resolutions:

  1. Say yes to doing more- Try to do more new things. More ADVENTURE.
  2. Try more relaxation techniques – Use my calm app every day to help with breathing and to lower my anxiety level and to know when I just need to take some time out.
  3. Stop trying to please everyone- Not everyone will like you, that’s OK.
  4. Stop overthinking things – Just go for it.
  5. Don’t live in the past or fear change – change is good.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!
